Windows Phone 8 is available in a wide range of hardware devices from Nokia, HTC, Samsung and most recently Huawei. However, some owners of the lower end smartphones have reported that their small amounts of on board storage space are being taken up by something which the OS simply labels as "other".
Some of the owners of these smartphones are claiming this problem has rended their new phone "unusable." One of those unhappy customers decided to take the issue to Twitter in a message directed to Joe Belfiore, the leader of the Windows Phone team at Microsoft.
Belfiore responded to that person on Saturday, with the following post:
@shounencritiic on "Other" storage: some improvements coming in future updates, it will get better. Try turn-off skydrive auto-photo upload.

Belfiore"s message would seem to indicate that the "other" storage problem might be related to Microsoft"s SkyDrive feature for Windows Phone 8. It"s possible that some users who enable the ability to automatically upload new photos to their SkyDrive account might have some files left over or created in their storage space.
In any case, Microsoft has not indicated when we will see a new update to Windows Phone 8 to fix this issue. The last such bug fix update, code name Portico, started its roll out to some phones in January.
