When you live inside the advertising bubble, click through rates (CTR) are your driving metric and Windows Phone is winning in that race. In a new report from Smaato for Q3, Windows Phone was on top of all other platforms in CTR with Symbian coming in second and RIM pulling in third place and yes we will forgive Smaato for using an outdated Windows Phone icon.
This information should come as music to Microsoft"s ears as they are looking to promote Windows Phone to all walks of life. With new information showing that Windows Phone has the highest CTR when compared to its competitors, it should help the company attract advertisers to its mobile platform. This was also the third consecutive quarter that Microsoft has topped this category.
While it is a small victory for Microsoft, it does show that the platform is gaining traction in areas outside of the traditional adoption rate too. Yes, the other platforms do have greater saturation in the marketplace but with Microsoft rolling out new hardware, new features, and now also helping advertisers get more traction too, the platform begins to show its true roots as a competitor in the marketplace.
Windows Phone has a lot of momentum going into the holiday season and if Microsoft and its partners are able to move many devices this season, you can bet that Windows Phone will a serious driving force in 2012.
