Windows Phone Store app submissions up by 40 percent

The launch of Windows Phone 8 has caused many more people to buy Windows Phone products, at least according to Microsoft. That increased interest from customers has also extended to interest from Windows Phone app makers.

The official Windows Phone developer blog reports that since the launch of Windows Phone 8, " ... we are experiencing a sustained 40 (percent) increase in Windows Phone app submissions." In fact, there"s apparently been so many app makers submitting their creations to be published, Microsoft says they will have a full staff working to approve apps to the Windows Phone Store through most of the upcoming holiday period.

There will be some exceptions during the holiday week. Microsoft will not be testing any Windows Phone apps on Christmas Eve or Christmas Day, nor will they test on New Year"s Day. The blog advices app developers to " ... allow 5 business days for your app to be certified during the holiday timeframe."

In other words, if you want your app published before Christmas, it might be a good idea to submit it before the end of this week. We suspect that some people will be getting new Nokia Lumia 920 or HTC Windows Phone 8X phones for Christmas and app developers will likely want to have their apps in the store for download on Christmas Day.
