With Windows 8 now less than seven weeks away from its commercial launch on October 26th, more and more Windows 8 apps are being submitted to the Windows Store. Last week, the number of apps reached the 1,000 milestone. Now we can expect even more apps to flood the Windows Store feature.
In a new post on the official Windows Store blog, Microsoft said that 82 more international markets have been added for Windows 8 app developers to submit their creations to the Windows Store. That brings the total number of markets that Windows 8 apps can be sold up to 120 countries and territories. You can check out the full list at Microsoft"s Dev Center website.
The blog post also says:
All eligible MSDN subscribers receive a free, one-year Windows Store developer account as part of their MSDN benefits. (Eligible subscriptions include Visual Studio Professional, Test Professional, Premium, Ultimate, and BizSpark.) We have a program for students—DreamSpark—that similarly waives the subscription fee. And we have an offer for businesses in our BizSpark program, as well.
It will be interesting to see just how many Windows 8 "Modern" apps will be available in the Windows Store before the October 26th launch date and we suspect with 82 new markets now open, the apps will start flowing in.
