Thanks Alexander who emailed in that Win2k is now able to access Windows Update V4. This is the same Windows Update that XP users see when checking for updates to the Operating system. Its the first such overhaul for an already existing Operating system since the release of Windows 98 which brought Windows Update into existence.
Windows Update v4 has been in beta testing for well over a year (also prior to the release of XP) and Microsoft plans to further migrate Windows 98 and Millennium to the new Windows Update leaving V3 all but a memory.
What was the longest beta in Microsoft"s history (almost 5 years) will also end on June 30th. V3 of Windows Update remained beta right up until Microsoft announced that they will be moving most of its V3 testers over to V4 automatically and closing the beta test.
Both SP3 beta testers and lower level Service Pack builds can access the new Windows Update site.
