Withings announces its Pulse HR, offering "effortless" fitness tracking

Although we don"t see much of Withings in the news, the firm has had quite the year, separating itself from Nokia and falling back into the hands of Éric Carreel, who is the Withings original co-founder and prior chairman. Since that time, the firm has launched its Steel HR Sport, which offered a more traditional watch look and is now back at it again, delivering its Pulse HR fitness tracker.

Withings advertises the new Pulse HR offering "effortless fitness tracking that goes the distance." When it comes to the design, it doesn"t look like its other products and has a slim muted profile with an OLED display that is encased in 316L stainless steel which is reinforced with a polycarbonate coating. It is capable of tracking heart rate, sleep, and also has a wide variety of activities it can monitor.

The Pulse HR can offer excellent battery life, with the firm claiming up to 20 days of use when in normal mode. Of course, if you"re more aggressive with your work out tracking, you"re looking at about five days of use. For those that want to go for a swim, feel free, as the device is water resistant up to 50 meters. Unfortunately, since the package is quite small, it does not offer GPS tracking on its own, though it can track routes when tethered to a smartphone.

If interested, you can navigate to the Withings website, where the Pulse HR can be purchased for $129.95.
