The story of Withings came full circle at the beginning of May, as Nokia sold off its Digital Health business back to Éric Carreel, who is the co-founder and prior chairman of Withings. Today, the company has announced its latest entry, debuting a new hybrid smartwatch - one that continues to meld form and function into an elegant and simple looking timepiece.
If the new Steel HR Sport looks familiar, you"re probably thinking about the Steel HR that made its debut towards the end of 2017. But if you look closely, you can see there are small changes all throughout, with little accents here and there that make the design pop. When it comes to materials, Withings isn"t one to slouch, as the new watch features a 40mm diameter bezel made from 316L stainless steel. The watch will arrive in two colors and by default will come with with a grey silicone band. If that isn"t to your liking, you will be able to purchase different color silicone bands and other bands made from different materials.
Despite the majority of the watch being supported by analog pieces, there will be a small OLED display that will be able to show different health metrics that are recorded throughout the day. Since the display can only show so much, you can find more details with the accompanying Health Mate app. The watch will be able to track up to 30 different kinds of activities and can also relay notifications from a smartphone to the watch. To top things off, Withings is claiming that the watch will last up to 25 days on a single charge with normal use, 45 days if put into "power reserve mode".
The Withings Steel HR Sport is now available from Amazon and other retailers and will cost $199.95.
