Back during the early days of the Xbox One, there was a roguelite first-person shooter called Ziggurat. It was a lot like Immortal Redneck, where you had to go from one room to the next, vanquishing foes and collecting upgrades. Fast forward to 2022, its sequel, Ziggurat 2, is coming to Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S on February 10.
The game takes a lot of cues from the original, but features tighter controls and upgraded visuals. The title features a painted aesthetic, and at higher resolutions, looks even better than Ziggurat. According to developer Milkstone Studios, "Ziggurat 2 has been redesigned from the ground up with the goal of improving over the original in all areas, and offer an even smoother and faster experience, with quicker, more intense sessions, and more interactive and fulfilling progression."
Since Ziggurat 2 is a roguelite, expect plenty of death. However, it allows you to gain experience and unlock perks the more you play, so eventually, you"ll become a force to be reckoned with. You"ll also find a lot of useful equipment and weapons along the way.
Lastly, every time you die, the dungeon resets. The game features randomly-generated areas that are stitched together in unique ways. You"ll come across similar rooms, but they"ll be in different orders. You can pre-order Ziggurat 2 for $24.99 on the Microsoft Store. It"s already available on PC. For those wondering, it"s Xbox Series X|S optimized and features 60 frames per second action.
