Wizardry 8. One of the best.

In the last few years, computer roleplaying games can generally fit into only a few categories. Some of these categories grow while others shrink. MMORPGs host thousands of players in persistent worlds while the Diablo-clones are packed with action, but have minimal actual roleplaying. AD&D games are sprawling, isometric and story-driven and are responsible for the resurgence of the genre. Finally, the two remaining categories are console RPGs, like the Final Fantasy series, and what are fondly called "old school" games. The Wizardry series is old school, and its latest incarnation from Sir-Tech Canada is old school at its best. Wizardry 8 may be the last Wizardry title from the development team, but they know how to go out with a bang. This is one of the best RPGs of the year.
