An alleged child porn offender in Germany has turned himself in to authorities after mistaking a computer worm generated e-mail he received as a warning he was under investigation, authorities said Tuesday.
The 20 year old was tricked by a version of the Sober worm, a worm which has invaded many computer systems around the world and sends out bogus emails with a wide array of addresses. In this particular instance, the man received an email stated he "was under investigation" with the sender being Germany"s Federal Criminal Police Office.
The man was charged after a search of his computer turned up pornographic images of children.
