Those on Verizon have been waiting patiently as the world has gotten its hands on WP7. Released first to GSM carriers around the world, the official Twitter account for the Windows Phone team has just announced that Verizon will be getting multiple WP7 devices by the holiday season.
This should come as good news to those on Verizon who want to try out Microsoft"s newest mobile OS. This news will also come as a welcome addition to the Verizon portfolio which has primarily only supported the Blackberry and Android platforms as of late. The specific devices that will be hitting the carrier are not known but with the holiday season nearly here, it shouldn"t be long before the devices are revealed.
Microsoft is also dependant on getting WP7 on as many carriers as possible so that it can report strong sales. With Verizon being the largest carrier in the United States, it only makes sense to get the platform to the carrier as soon as possible.
[Update] A follow-up tweet has been posted that appears to debunk the earlier statement that the devices will be hitting Verizon this holiday season. At this point it is still up in the air if Verizon will land a WP7 in 2010.
