A Microsoft gaming survey that was performed recently in the United Kingdom has found that an Xbox 360 gamer can spend an average of £63 a month on new games.
According to Techwatch, the survey states that Microsoft questioned 251 people specifically aged between 25 and 34. A small percentage of hardcore gamers admitted to spending up to £100 a month or more on new games.
The survey also mentioned that around 83 per cent of Xbox 360 gamers will play on their consoles around three or four times a week, while 41 percent will play on them for up to three or four hours a day.
It will come as no surprise to see that first person shooter games such as Call of Duty are the most popular games played, closely followed by racers and RPG’s.
According to MCV Microsoft Advertising’s head of research for data and analytics, Julie Forey said “Compared against the average male, gamers represent an attractive proposition for marketers,”She went on to say that, “Earning a higher wage, being advocates of premium goods, and over half playing for more than three hours each day, provides firms with a profile from which they can base their message.”
While this is good news from a PR perspective for Microsoft’s Xbox service in the UK, you have to take into consideration that the age band that Microsoft has decided to target in this survey are one of the highest spending groups in the United Kingdom so the figures may be inflated.
