Xbox Insiders on the Skip Ahead ring will get their first 19H1 build tonight

It was the end of July when Microsoft said that it would begin flighting 19H1 builds for the Xbox One "very soon", but there hasn"t been any word since, until today that is. The company"s Brad Rossetti announced today that the first 19H1 build will arrive for the family of consoles tonight at 6pm Pacific Time.

Unfortunately, there are no new features to be aware of in the new build, which comes in at 3.6GB. Microsoft says that new features coming in the update will be announced in the coming months.

The last five major feature updates have been codenamed Redstone, with Redstone 5 arriving in October. Moving forward though, Microsoft will be using codenamed that reflect the date that the update should be finalized. The next update is codenamed 19H1 because it"s expected to be out in the first half of 2019.

Today"s build is only for those that are in the Skip Ahead subset of the Preview Alpha ring. It"s likely that the other rings, or the rest of Preview Alpha, won"t see builds from the 19H1 development branch until after the October update ships. Microsoft also tends to do minor updates for Xbox consoles in-between major updates, so how this will play out in the Insider Program is anyone"s guess.
