Microsoft today released the latest software update for the Xbox One and Xbox Series console families. It does not bring any groundbreaking features, but gamers will enjoy several quality-of-life improvements and enhancements. Key points in Xbox March 2022 update include the option to pin games to Quick Resume, firmware updates for controllers, and audio updates.
Pin Games to Quick Resume
One of the most exciting features in the latest consoles from Microsoft is the ability to quickly restore games even after restarting a console. With the newest software update, Xbox Series X and Series S owners can specify two games for their consoles to constantly keep in Quick Resume (unless you unpin them manually or the games need a mandatory update).
Share Button Remapping
Microsoft now lets you remap the Share button on the latest generation of Xbox Wireless Controller, Xbox Elite Series 2, or Xbox Adaptive Controller. By default, a single tap takes a screenshot, and a long tap starts video recording. The new firmware allows changing the default behavior and picking different actions, such as open achievements list, mute the TV, launch an app, etc.
Besides the improved button remapping, the latest controller firmware delivers performance improvements for Bluetooth-enabled Xbox controllers. Interestingly, the multi-device support for Xbox Wireless Controller Microsoft promised several months ago is not available yet.
Note that the Share button remapping is available on Xbox consoles and Windows PCs. Use the updated Xbox Accessories app to update your controller’s firmware on a computer with Windows 10 or 11.
New Audio Setup Wizard
Finally, Xbox March 2022 update has a new guided audio setup wizard. It lets you test your HDMI audio format, test all available speakers, and ensure the best possible settings.
