Xbox One consoles are being plagued by black screens, Xbox Live also down [Update]

If you"ve booted up your Xbox One today and saw nothing but a black screen, you"re not the only one. Users seem to be having some trouble using the console, as well as accessing Xbox Live. The black screen essentially bars users from doing anything on the console.

The official Xbox Support account on Twitter has acknowledged the ongoing problems with both the console and the Xbox Live service, and it says it"s working to fix the problem. Brad Rossetti, head of the Xbox Insider program, announced that the team traced the black screen problems to a service change on Microsoft"s end and said that the company is working to roll back the change:

Xbox One Users - we have identified the service causing the black screens and working on rolling back the service change - please be patient.

You can track the current status of Xbox Live through the respective support page, but you may face some trouble doing that as well, according to Microsoft. The company is working to address all of these issues. We will update this article with more information as it comes.

Update: Microsoft"s Brad Rossetti has confirmed that the service change has been rolled back, and your Xbox One should be usable again. You"ll need to reboot your console to verify that it"s up and running.
