Xbox One March preview update brings long-awaited screenshot feature and spam reporting

Microsoft has released its Xbox One March system update to people enrolled in the preview program, finally bringing the the long-awaited screenshot feature to the console.

In addition to the screenshot feature, a number of smaller improvements have also been released, such as suggested friends and the ability to block spam accounts, a problem that has recently plagued Xbox Live. Microsoft provided the following rundown of the update:

  • Screenshots: You can now take screenshots of your game while playing, either by using the controller, or by saying “Xbox, Take a Screenshot” to take and save a screenshot. The Upload app can now manage screenshots in addition to game clips, and allows you to set screenshot as your background. The ability to share your screenshots will come in a later preview build.
  • Suggested friends The Friends area in home and your friends list will help you find and add friends, by showing people you might know and top community broadcasters and clip creators, which will be displayed on a new page in the Friends area.
  • Sharing your name: You now have two new ways to share your real name: with all of your friends or to everyone in the Xbox Live community
  • Tile transparency: A new setting allows you to vary the level of transparency for your background image.
  • Privacy and online safety settings: You can now enable or disable collection and analysis of voice data when using Xbox – Bing to search.
  • Report spam: The Messages app now has an added option to allow you to notify Xbox when you receive spam.
  • OneGuide for Australia: Support for OneGuide will continue in preview in Australia for free-to-air TV listings.
  • Xbox One Digital TV Tuner in Australia: Xbox One owners in Australia with an Xbox Digital TV Tuner can now use it with the preview builds of this month’s release.
