Xbox One to get custom Gamerpics in a future update

Custom Gamerpics have been a long time coming since the feature was updated for the Xbox One just over three years ago. But now they have been unofficially announced on Major Nelson"s podcast featuring Mike Ybarra and Scott Henson from the Xbox Engineering team.

The podcast was mostly about the latest Xbox build that was released for insiders yesterday but, somewhere between the new guide and Cortana, they managed to sneak in an Easter Egg for fans. With several new features in the build, they spent a lot of time easing gamers" reservations about the changes and explaining each development, as well as the reasoning behind it.

The feature was already available on the Xbox 360, allowing developers to offer independent Gamerpics for users to purchase. The delay on Xbox One was, apparently, due to inappropriate pictures showing up which can become a cause of distress for some. You can listen to the complete podcast here (the Gamerpics discussion begins at 20:17):

Other features coming to the console apart from the UI improvements and the Custom Gamerpics are Arenas, that the company announced at E3 last year. This is going to be a big year for Xbox with the upcoming Beam integration and the new-gen console, codenamed Scorpio, to be released later this year.

Thanking fans for their support and vocal feedback, Mike teased "exciting stuff in the upcoming updates" for the platform.
