Xiaomi debuts Mi Band 2, its new $23 fitness wearable with OLED display

Xiaomi is primarily known for its smartphones, but it also offers other products like air purifiers, power banks, headphones and fitness bands. Today, the company has introduced its latest, the Mi Band 2.

Unlike previous iterations of the Mi Band, the "2" offers an OLED display that gives you instant access to information like the time, steps, heart rate, distance traveled, and calories burned. Since the Mi Band 2 (no relation) will be supported by an Android app, it will also be able to display notifications for calls, messages, and various app reminders.

Since the wearable doesn"t have a color display, it still retains the long battery life found on previous generations, with Xiaomi estimating up to 20 days. Naturally, this will most likely depend on how often you use the heart rate monitor, which can severely drain battery life. Also like previous iterations of the band, the new unit will be IP67 certified, meaning that it should be able to survive a shower or a swim.

The Xiaomi Mi Band 2 will be available starting June 7th for $23 USD. The wearable be available in one color (black), but will support different color bands for those who want to customize the look of the device.
