Xiaomi"s next flagship phone, the Mi MIX3, has been rumored to debut sometime in October, though the exact date has remained uncertain, until now. The Chinese phone maker teased the upcoming device on its Weibo account, indicating that the phone will launch on October 25.
From what can be seen from the teaser image to the right, the Mi MIX3 will likely have a slider mounted on the back of the device. The slider is supposed to house the front-facing camera, as rumored earlier last month.
The image also reveals that the upcoming Xiaomi flagship will be ditching the notch on the display, coinciding with previous rumors that showed an all-display front panel of the device, with a tiny bezel along the bottom edge. This makes sense with the inclusion of a slider mechanism, which eliminates the need to ruin the screen with a notch.
While the official specs and features of the device remain unknown, of course, previous reports suggested that the Mi MIX3 will ship with an artificial intelligence-dedicated physical button, something that hasn"t been seen in previous Xiaomi handsets.
Finally, the device is expected to be the world"s first smartphone to support 5G connectivity. Donovan Sung, Xiaomi"s Director of Product Management, revealed last month an image of the phone being connected to a 5G data network as part of a test. More details of the handset will follow later this month at its official unveiling.
Update: Prior to the official unveiling of the Mi MIX3 in Beijing, Xiaomi Philippines has revealed today that the handset will boast a dual 24MP front camera setup.
