Last week, Xiaomi"s new $520 Mi MIX concept phone - which features a 6.4-inch display with curved corners and ultra-thin bezels - sold out in just a few seconds. But while many people are aware of the company for its well-featured and keenly priced smartphones, it offers plenty of other devices too, such as an affordable virtual reality headset, fitness-focused wearable devices, and now a new wireless mouse.
The Mi Mouse has a rather minimalist appearance, with an anodized aluminum shell, and weighs just under 78g. The company claims the mouse is comfortable to use "even for a long time", but its flat design suggests that it won"t be particularly ergonomically friendly, although it is at least suitable for use by both left- and right-handed people.
It features dual-mode connectivity, supporting Bluetooth 4.0 and 2.4GHz wireless, allowing users to connect to two devices at the same time at up to 10 meters. The 1200dpi optical sensor on the underside is said to work on a wide range of surfaces.
Powered by two removable AA batteries, and available in either gold or silver, the Mi Mouse is priced at 99 CNY (roughly $15 USD), and will go on sale in Xiaomi"s home market of China on November 11. It"s not yet clear if the company plans to make the mouse available in other countries.
