Xiaomi has announced a flash sale that will take place this Wednesday at 2 pm Indian Standard Time (IST). The sale will represent the second of its kind, the first being last week. The Mi 5 will cost Rs 24,999 and will be on sale alongside a 20000mAh Xiaomi Mi Power Bank - which costs Rs 1,699 - and the Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 - which will cost Rs 9,999 for the 16GB model (2GB RAM) and Rs 11,999 for the 32GB model (3GB RAM).
The flash sale held last week occurred during the Xiaomi Mi Fan Festival. Xiaomi India managed to sell over 100,000 units of its Mi 5 and Redmi Note 3. It also saw 1.2 million people visit Mi.com during the festival.
The Mi 5 was first announced, to much anticipation, in February and packs top of the line hardware and software, including:
- Android 6.0, MIUI 7
- Snapdragon 820 Quad-core Kryo 1.8GHz
- Andreno 530 GPU
- 3GB LPDDR4 dual-channel RAM
- 32GB UFS 2.0 Flash storage
- 3000 mAh lithium-ion polymer battery (non-removable)
- Quick Charge 3.0
- USB Type-C
- 16MP rear camera / 4MP front camera / 4K video @ 30 fps
- 5.15 inch ultra-bright display with 1920 x 1080 resolution and 428 PPI
- 4G dual SIM (2 x nano SIM slots)
For those outside of India and China itching to get their hands on a Mi 5, it"s possible to buy the device almost anywhere in the world through resellers. Going this route, however, may throw up obstacles, such as the device not working on your carrier, or giving up the option to run apps like the Google Play Store, so do your homework before deciding to buy through a reseller.
