Xiaomi today made the global debut of its Redmi Note 9 series via an online-only event in India. The Redmi Note series is the company"s most popular offering in the country. With its Redmi Note 9 lineup, Xiaomi is once again shaking the mid-range smartphone segment in India. This time around, the Redmi Note lineup consists of the Redmi Note 9 Pro and the Redmi Note 9 Pro Max.
Redmi Note 9 Pro
The Redmi Note 9 Pro is the cheapest handset in the Redmi Note lineup for the time being. It features Xiaomi"s new Aura Balance design which includes a 3D curved glass body. The rear and front of the device are protected by Corning"s Gorilla Glass 5. The camera module also uses a Gorilla Glass 5 cover glass.

The Redmi Note 9 Pro has a splash-proof design and it will be available in Aurora Blue, Glacier White, and Interstellar Black colors. It goes on sale in India from 17th March. The base 4GB/64GB variant has a price tag of Rs 12,999 ($175), while the 6GB/128GB variant is priced at Rs 15,999 ($215).
The phone runs on MIUI 11 based on Android 10. It comes with a number of new camera features including a Pro video mode.
Redmi Note 9 Pro Max
The Redmi Note 9 Pro Max is the new "flagship Note from Xiaomi. It has the same Aura Balance design as the Redmi Note 9 and packs largely the same specs as it as well. It does come with an improved quad-camera system and faster charging though.

The Redmi Note 9 Pro Max goes on sale in India from March 25th. The base variant will ship with 6GB RAM and 64GB storage and cost Rs 14,999 ($200). The 6GB/128GB variant is priced at Rs 16,999 ($230), while the top-end variant with 8GB RAM and 128GB storage is priced at Rs 18,999 ($255).
Xiaomi intends to bring the Redmi Note 9 Pro and the Redmi Note 9 Pro Max to international markets over the coming months. It will also launch the Redmi Note 9 at some point later this year.
