Motorola, despite having lackluster sales of the Xoom, has announced the Xoom 2 which will be landing in the middle of November. The device will be sporting a 10.1in display run Android 3.2 and the Xoom 2 Media edition will come in a bit smaller at 8.2in display and will also run Android 3.2.
The full technical details are posted below for the Xoom 2 and the Xoom 2 Media Edition ( ME anybody?) and shows Motorola"s continued drive towards making inroads in the tablet segment and will not go down without a fight. We reviewed the initial Xoom and were generally pleased with the device. If Motorola can build on the learnings from the initial product launch, they could have a top notch device on their hands.
The Xoom 2 takes queues from the Bionic in cutting the corners (literally) to give it a slightly different appearance from the traditional rectangle shape. The real question will be if the hardware and software work in perfect harmony that also supports generous battery life. While no US announcement has been made, Verizon launched the initial Motorola Xoom so it wouldn"t behoove us to see it land on big red yet again.
