A couple years ago, 360-degree cameras were all the rage, with companies like LG and Samsung introducing their own offerings to the world. The problem is that the hype wasn"t really generated by consumers, which led to it underperforming and being forgotten. At this year"s CES, it looks like some companies are trying once again, but this time, they are taking a new approach at immersive content by focusing on 180-degree pictures and videos.
Yi isn"t a brand that really resonates with users outside of Asia but the firm has made strides to expand its presence in the world and offers quite an astounding array of products like action cameras, home monitoring cameras, and more. At this year"s CES, the company debuted its latest product, the Horizon VR180 Camera. The camera will be able to capture 5.7K resolution photos and videos, livestream to YouTube, and features a 2.2-inch touchscreen display. What makes the camera different from your standard point and shoot camera is that the Horizon VR180 can capture in 2D and 3D.
Currently, there isn"t a price for the unit, but it is slated to make its retail debut in spring of 2018.
