You can now order a reproduction Atari Centipede arcade cabinet for $90

While gaming has surely advanced leaps and bounds in the past few years, there will always be a place for retro games. If you"re one that enjoys arcade classics, the Replicade release of Atari"s Centipede might be just up your alley.

What you see in the image is an arcade cabinet with full graphics, functioning controls, and stands at just 12-inches tall. That"s right, the arcade cabinet is a 1/6 replica of the original but still uses high-quality materials like wood and metal.

As for the screen, it uses a 3.5-inch vertical display with LED backlighting, has a microUSB port for its rechargeable battery, and is made in partnership with Atari. The cabinet will feature the original arcade ROM, meaning that it should play just like the original.

New Wave Toys founder Shilo Prychak chimed in about the product stating:

“We created Replicade Amusements to pay homage to the classic arcade games we love,” “There have been many ports of Centipede over the years, but we believe creating an authentic arcade game experience is as much about capturing the details of the cabinet art as it is recreating the gameplay”

If the Centipede model proves to be popular and the demand is strong, the company is hoping to create more in the Replicade series with other classic games. With that said, these cabinets won"t be massed produced and will instead be a limited line made with collectors in mind.

If interested, you can head to the Kickstarter campaign to add your contribution. The minimum price to obtain the cabinet is $90 with an expected shipping date of April 2018. Remember, this is a Kickstarter, so if the campaign isn"t funded in full, you most likely won"t ever receive the cabinet.
