Although Microsoft"s latest Surface Dock design leaves room for future devices to take advantage, last year"s model was a bit more restrictive being specifically designed for the Surface Pro 3. While Microsoft promised a solution that would allow Surface Pro 4 owners the ability to use the Pro 3 dock at its October event, it failed to materialize - until now.
According to WinSuperSite, the Surface Dock spacer adapter was supposed to made available at Microsoft Stores for free. Although it has failed to materialize in physical stores, it now looks like users will have two options available when it comes to obtaining the adapter: ordering one for "free" ($6 shipping fee) online or 3D printing your own solution via an official Microsoft template. While this might not be an ideal solution for some, this will probably be an ideal solution for most, considering that Microsoft Stores are few and far between.
If you are eager to get your hands on a dock via the mail in process, be sure to register your Pro 4 and hit the replacement accessory link. Otherwise, you can download the project from the link below to start 3D printing your own.
