Nvidia has done a great job of keeping its Shield TV up-to-date, even introducing new features to keep it fresh and competitive. The Shield TV is, once again, getting a nice upgrade, gaining the ability to be controlled in more detail by Google Home devices.
Although the Shield TV already had Google Assistant and could be controlled by Google Home products, previous functionality was very basic. Now, Nvidia is taking things a step further by allowing you to send more complex commands like "Ok Google, turn on Shield” and controlling the playback and volume options just by using your voice. The advanced control capability using Google Home products will be rolling out to the Shield TV over the course of the month. But if you want to get it as soon as possible, you just need to restart your unit and you should see the new update within a day.
