Back in April, Microsoft updated its minimum hardware requirements for Windows 10, a woefully outdated list of minimum specs for the OS. All the company added was that for version 1903, the minimum storage for a PC is 32GB rather than the 16GB for 32-bit PCs and 20GB for 64-bit PCs that it previously listed. The rest of the page is still woefully outdated.
According to a new support document, that minimum storage is just for new PCs. That means that if you"ve got a 32-bit PC with 16GB of storage, your device will still be supported, just in case that was something you were worried about.
As it stands, the only PCs that got Windows 10 and can"t get feature updates anymore are those with Intel Clover Trail chips. Those devices got version 1607 as the last one, and will continue to be supported with cumulative updates until 2026.
Obviously, there aren"t a lot of PCs out there with such low storage, so this doesn"t affect most people. But if you"ve got a cheap Windows tablet that has low storage, it"s good news.
