Apple"s iOS 11 made its debut a couple months ago and while new OS releases typically improve the functionality of devices, it looks like the latest from the firm is a battery killer. While the OS could certainly be a culprit, apps can also be responsible for this kind of behavior, and it looks like the YouTube app is no exception.
According to many user reports, when watching YouTube on their iOS 11 devices, the unit will start to heat up and also cause tremendous battery drain. Luckily, it looks like the company is in the know, as it has responded that it is actively working on a fix to this problem. This isn"t specific to any one iPhone or iPad model and seems to affect the whole Apple lineup.
While there was an update issued recently, it did not contain notes on what was fixed. Hopefully, YouTube will address this problem sooner rather than later as battery life is a precious commodity for any smartphone user.
