YouTube gets Sundance Films, more coming

YouTube and Sundance Films have been long life partners since the opening of YouTube in 2005, and now YouTube is preparing to offer full length video rentals for a small fee.  YouTube will offer five films starting this Friday through January 31, 2010.

YouTube said that it will be adding more films in the coming weeks, adding a variety of different genres, including health and education.  With the addition of independent films, YouTube has made a call for other production companies to bring their content to the service, by setting their own price and controlling their content displayed on the website.

YouTube has also been tinkering with 3D video content, back in July 2009, where users can upload videos in 3D, a possibility for 3D rental videos, including Avatar, could be utilized.  HTML5 support has also been confirmed, which allows users to watch videos without the need of Adobe Flash Player.

Some films may not be available in all regions.
