Ever felt like you lost yourself in a clip on YouTube? Probably not, but Google wants to make that happen by adding support for 360 videos to its service.
Last night Google confirmed to a number of outlets that its video streaming service will soon be able to support 360-degree videos. This means that users of all those new cameras that keep coming on the market will finally have a way to share their footage with the whole world.
There’s no exact date on when the feature will roll out besides a vague “coming weeks” mentioned by a spokesperson. Of course we’d love to see YouTube hurry up and roll out some other, more useful features first.
That being said we’re still excited about 360-degree video support because of the promise of what it, combined with VR helmets, could do.
