YouTube TV free trial extended to two weeks for new subscribers

YouTube seems to have extended the free trial period for its internet TV service to two weeks from one. The new offering comes after Google raised the price for YouTube TV to $49.99 per month earlier this year with the addition of eight new TV channels.

However, the extended trial period doesn"t appear to be available to everyone as it is live only for those who are new to the service, as noted by The Verge. In addition, the new promo could be available only for a limited period that will reportedly end on August 14.

That said, the trial extension is still a welcome offering, albeit for new customers only, as it will allow them to watch YouTube TV shows for a longer period than usual without paying a dime. Since the recent price hike also introduced a few more channels such as Discovery Channel, Food Network, and Animal Planet, among others, the extended free trial may be Google"s way of giving customers more time to enjoy the shows from those channels.

It remains to be seen, of course, whether the latest promo will help draw new customers to the service. Earlier last year, YouTube TV became available on non-Google platforms including Apple TV and Roku devices before its rollout to Firefox a few months later.
