Zero Install 2.3

Zero Install is a decentralized cross-platform software-installation system available under the LGPL. It allows software developers to publish programs directly from their own web-sites, while supporting features familiar from centralized distribution repositories such as shared libraries, automatic updates and digital signatures. It is intended to complement, rather than replace, the operating system’s package management. 0install packages never interfere with those provided by the distribution.

What"s new in this version:

  • Fixed crash when environment variable specified in <for-each> is not set
  • Added 0store purge command to delete all entries from an implementation store (doing this manually is difficult because of the NTFS permissions involved)
  • Introduced new per-user installer for use without administrator permissions
  • A number of minor tweaks and bugfixes

Existing installations will update automatically after confirming a dialog box. You can also trigger an immediate update using the command line 0install self-update.
