ZTE debuts latest Firefox OS mobile device on eBay

ZTE has announced that it will begin selling its latest Firefox OS handset through eBay. The ZTE Open C is a device targeted at first time smartphone users and will be the first commercial device released with the latest version of the Firefox mobile OS. The ZTE Open C will feature a 4” display, 1.2GHz A7 dual-core processor, 512MB of RAM, 4GB’s of memory, and a 3MP camera.

The Firefox OS 1.3 update will bring a wealth of new features to the fledgling mobile platform. While most of these features are device dependent the updated Firefox OS will support:

  • Dual-SIM
  • Continuous autofocus and flash
  • Gallery app updated with performance enhancements and better content arrangement. The Gallery app will display dates taken, file types, and file sizes.
  • Access to music controls in the notifications tray and the lock screen.
  • FM radio app can be played through phone’s speakers
  • Email notifications and POP3 support
  • MMS messaging support to email address
  • Multiple Bluetooth file transfer support

The ZTE Open C is available now via eBay for the U.S., U.K., Germany, Russia, and other European countries. The Open C will be priced at $99.99 and will be sold exclusively through eBay.
