Yes this is the official PDC thread for Neowin. All others will be deleted/merged here.

Here's some simple facts about PDC...

Yes a build of Longhorn will be released to the attendees on the 26th of October. It will be on DVD and will contain a lot of other developer related material and slides etc.

Yes the build will be available to customers with a MSDN universal account sometime after PDC.

i will be nice if i knew what are the "developer related material and slides"!

It is likely that we will have some method for subscribers to get access to

the alpha bits, though it may or may not be through download.  I understand

that it is a popular download, but it remains an Alpha and as such there are

support and registration issues to work out before we can make an

alpha-quality-level download available to half a million subscribers.  This

is definitely something that we're working on for our customers, but I don't

want to set an expectation that we'll start providing the download during

the PDC keynote.  It is likely that we'll have somehting in place for our

developers, I just can't say (because I don't yet know) exactly what.
