SidVicious
"We?ve been hard at work on our next release, and I am pleased to let you know that we hit an important milestone right before the end of the year. That is, our development and test work is done on the next major release of OneCare, and as we announced about a month ago, it will indeed be available ? both at retail and on the Web - at the end of January. There may be some slight variations by country, but for the most part, you should be able to download or buy in just a few weeks. And for those of you who already subscribe, you need to do ? nothing. You?ll automatically receive this major upgrade, just as you receive minor upgrades throughout the year, as part of your OneCare subscription." http://windowsonecare.spaces.live.com/ Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/526923-windows-live-onecare-v15-rtm/ Share on other sites
Slimy
Thanks for the heads up, nice to see it works on Vista. I'm more interested in an x64 version though! Neil
On my Windows PC I have used onecare 1.5 and it is very good. Not bloated and is a subscription so you get the latest version of OneCare each time. Sockie
How does OneCare's Antivirus compare to Avira or NOD32? Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/526923-windows-live-onecare-v15-rtm/#findComment-588193507 Share on other sites
Atsuma
I've been on the dev team for Windows one care , I would have to say that Milestone 1.5 is very well rounded. We've pounded out some of the issues with XP and Vista support and as well improved in performance as well as kept resource useage down. On a consumer side of things i think that onecare is a very well rounded virus protection. Norton and others just seem to be so bloted with extra stuff and very very user unfriendly , with windows one care its very very understandable and also very easy to use. Does the auto updates for you and never locks up your system or pops up a annoy window saying you gotta up date or anything , you just get a nice little bubble saying Your windows one care has been updated and thats it. So for anyone that has been useing free ones or others , I would recommend trying one care on the 90 day free trial and seeing the big diffrence. :: Lyon ::
One thing that I don't like about the antivirus, is that if I get an email with a virus attachment, OneCare doesn't "catch" it (yet?) Until probably if I open the attachment, but I was too scared to try ^^ Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/526923-windows-live-onecare-v15-rtm/#findComment-588193804 Share on other sites
Novaoblivion
I am in the OneCare Perpetual Beta, so I have been using 1.5 now for a while on my Vista install and I like it a lot. Its simple and doesnt use many resources. I kind of like how it defrags my harddrive for me every now and then too since I never get around to doing that my self lol.
