My guildwars account was hacked

My guildwars account was hacked and my main was farmed for gold, is there anyway to get anet to restore my account to a previous state? (eg I haven't played since a week after I bought Nightfall which I bought threw the NCStore.)

How did they change your password? When you request to change your password you get an email sent to you to confirm the change. Did they get your email address too?

Anyways...I doubt there's a way to get it back, sadly. I've never heard of anyone getting their account back after it was hacked.

I already got the account back up and running I just need to know if/can they restore it to a previous state (sometime earlier this year)

If the security breach is on their end & they are responcible then they really don't get a choice, you can sue them.

On a side note;

We're going to get along just great :D

It's not a security breach if someone figures out your simple password. And a quick look at the EULA will show you have no rights to sue them for virtual property.

Sue? Maybe not. But I'm pretty sure the OP has the right to ask nicely, and the Guild Wars staff has the right to value their customers and help them out when they're having trouble with their service.

And since when was a quick look at any EULA possible? :p

Contact them and see what they can do, but I'd bet money that they wont restore the account state. Been playing Guild Wars since launch and had about 15 friends get their accounts stolen and ravaged. Some never even got the accounts back, and those that did were told by Anet that they dont do individual account rollbacks, only server-wide rollbacks in emergency situations (which to my knowledge has never happened).

It sucks, but they probably wont do much. Doesnt hurt to try though, maybe they'll do it now as its been a while since I've played. Good luck.

I didn't say he should not ask, only that he cannot sue.

Do this.

Buy yourself a eikon finger print reader. I just got one and its fantastic.

Then go here https://www.grc.com/passwords.htm

and create a password. Something like.

Problem Solved.

That is partially true, they do only server-wide rollbacks in emergency situations (chances of a single account getting rolled back are virtually nil, as you could give all your money to someone and claim your account was hacked and essentially dupe your money if they rolled back just your account). But, they HAVE actually done 1 server-wide rollback to my knowledge (haven't played in a few years so its completely possible it has happened more than once).

Basically, after one of their updates, the material merchants (both normal and rare) as well as dye traders (and any other traders who buy items from people and essentially re-sell them to other people) started selling everything they had for 100g in unlimited amounts. You could literally buy ecto for 100g each, spending 100k gold to get 1000 ecto, and similar for things like black dye and what not. This happened before NF and possibly before Factions even (cant remember exactly when).

In the end, once Anet found out about this they shut the server down, rolled back to before the update after fixing the issue (the game was in the previously mentioned state for about an hour before they rolled it back). People were ****ed they lost an hour or so of legit work since they either didn't know about the bug or didn't exploit it, but in the end it saved everyone from having stacks of ecto and black dye and what not and the market on high-end materials from crashing.

EDIT: Here we go: http://mmorpg.qj.net/Guild-Wars-server-rol...pg/49/aid/10762

Happened back in March of 2006, and to my knowledge (which is lacking for GW since around 2007) it is the only rollback to happen in GW history.

EDIT2: Seems it happened around a month earlier than GW:F release, so only those of us around since before Factions would likely be aware of it. :p

That is a pretty arrogant statement. Try helping maybe?

yeah. I consider that statement helpful too

well not exactly the password like that. but its clear what he is saying= get a stronger password

Umm I have a very strong password thank you very much, the only way is if my AV software missed a keylogger (which as it turns out most likely did). So yes it actually is a very arrogant statement.

So much for Anet protecting their customer loyalty...
