Dell PowerEdge 1750 CPU Upgrade

Recommended Posts

Hi guys,

I am having a little issue with an old server PowerEdge 1750 which has a 32bit Xeon CPU shown in the attachment. I am looking to rebuild it, add some more memory, install 64bit OS but obviously the CPU is not compatible. So just wondering if I should/can upgrade the CPU and what will be supported by this old machine? Any ideas?

Thanks in advance!

Just took a quick look, thank you for that link - very handy!!

One thing though, none of the CPUs support 64 from that upgrade list :( new server it is!

Edited: On the site it lets me choose to have 64 bit Server 2003 when Intel's site says the CPU is 32bit.. dont get it!

Yeah me neither, just saw that... I guess 1750 doesn't supports 64bits processors (?).

Did you found anything on the left menu on R-Series servers? There are some alternatives :)

i havent researched myself, but it's not the 1750 that's the problem, it's the chipset and/or cpu socket. it appears that the socket 604 doesnt support 64-bit cpu's
