Transgender person beat up at Baltimore County McDonald's

Recommended Posts

The victim of a sustained attack in a Baltimore County McDonald's has spoken for the first time about the beating she received, and how nobody came to her aid.

Chrissy Lee Polis, a 22-year-old transgender woman, said she was afraid to go outside after the attack, and hinted that it might have been racially motivated - as both of her attackers were black.

She said: 'They just hurt me really bad, and I'm afraid to go outside now because of stuff like this.'

She said the violence kicked off after she had used the ladies restrooms in the McDonald's outlet, but denied reports that this was the reason why the violence erupted.

She said of her attackers: 'They just seemed like they wanted to pick a fight that night.'

She said she was approached by one of the girls, who accused her of 'looking at my man'.

When Miss Polis insisted that she was not even aware of the girl's partner, the physical abuse began with the girl spitting in her face.

She said: 'She started ripping my hair, throwing me on the floor, kicking me in my face.

'I got up and tried to hit the girl. I had her in a corner, to try to get her off me, and the other girl came up and started kicking me in my face, punching me in my nose, rippping my earring out of my earlobes.'

Miss Polis said there was no way to escape the attack, adding: ' Every time I tried to walk away they followed me.'

And, in what will cause major embarrassment to McDonald's and its 'family restaurant' image, Miss Polis said staff not only allowed the abuse to continue, one employee - identified as Vernon Hackett from images and comment he put online - filmed the incident.

The footage, which was put online, has attracted hundreds of thousands of viewers.

" i dont care if they put all my government on the internet" Ya sure, maybe the story is true and he got beat up for hitting on her man, but either way its wrong to stand and watch anyone get beat .

Seems just a racially motivated crime.

LOL seriously? i have lol again.

Is this tabloid crap?It looks like an inquirer site.

It actually happened .... in April:

ROSEDALE, Md. (WJZ) ? Prosecutors laid out the charges in Baltimore County, after the videotaped beating of a transgender woman inside a McDonald?s.

The county state?s attorney spent the last month deciding whether to file hate crime charges in connection with the attack. Now the charges have been filed and the two teens have been indicted.

Rawls says she and Polis plan to sue McDonald?s for not properly training employees.

And the video recording employee, was fired.

Transgender people are damn scary, one of my friend told me that he have a friend who was dating a lady. It was a TG, but she looks really a delicate and beautiful woman. When he was going to have sex with her or him, he found out that she was a he.... You know what I mean? The friend of my friend was in completely shock.... And who does not?

Sad sign of how much our society has declined. Instead of intervening and calling the police they instead decide to 1. Youtube it. 2. Plead that the attackers flee the scene.

I don't care what gender or whatever the victim is they don't deserve to be beaten as if they aren't human without any interaction from anyone standing and watching.

I do like to see an bigoted and uninformed post first thing in the morning, really wakes me up, y'know?

So, just because a"friend" had an experience with a TG person who didn't reveal themselves before things got intimate, that tars all TG people with the same brush, does it? One of my best friends in the world is TG, and she's one of the kindest sweetest people I know. She's had gender reassignment surgery, but would NEVER consider dating someone without telling them first.

And you'll find that pretty much all TG people would do that, too. They might not tell random acquaintences, but with people they want to date? Hell yes.

Unfortunately its usually written into your contract that if a robbery happens, or a fight, you dont intervene or you will get fired.

Although there's usually security in every store so you just tell security to call the police... not stand there like an ass and film it.

If you watch the video, the girls that attacked the victim walked away from the fight several times only to return in full rage. Too much was cut out of the video to really make a judgement, but I think there's a lot more to the story than what was written (I'm not condoning the attack, btw).

+1 It's a shame you had to post that.

Unfortunately? Staff at McDonalds aren't paid to fight and neither should they be. Would you put your life at risk for a f*cking burger?

Having said that, the staff member shouldn't have recorded the incident to upload it to YouTube.

Oh good lord yes, it would be horrendeus for people to intervene, to potentially save someone from being physically assaulted or possibly even permanently injured / killed.

If only you could see how deeply I facepalmed at your comment.

Facepalm away my friend but the fact remains that you don't go to work at McDonalds to take a bullet to protect cash in a register. Companies are responsible for the wellbeing of their staff and that includes protecting them from physical violence while on the job. If that means instructing staff not to get involved then so be it.

It's funny how people like you always assume that it's the responsibility of the staff to intervene. If you're so keen on vigilantism then why shouldn't one of the other customers intervene? Maybe one of the parents who take their kids to those sorts of places perhaps?
