It would be a reference to the number eight due to the fact it's can be flipped on its side to become the symbol of infinity. Plus, there'll be an infinite number of devices it'll run on.... or something? I can't think of any other real reason. :p Never heard of fedora? I think in the years to come desktop OS's will be delivered like mobile OS'. What do you mean, what do Me and XP have to do with it? They change their naming schemes all the time. Before Me they did it by years (95, 98, 2000) and before that version numbers (1.x, 2.x, 3.x,). Plus we already have Windows 7 so they would just be continuing with the current scheme, and I'm pretty sure I read they had announced the name Windows 8 as final.
