LOL. simply "Windows Sucks BigTime"

Back to rumors: Last Monday, Jul 25th, A win8 build was compiled with kernel 7.0; if the rumor was true, then last week was big day for MS, win8 entering pre-beta with new kernel.

It is likely that the core of Windows 8? (new operating system likely to get his name) get index 7.0 - or the beginning of development of the next MS operating system (which for me personally, it seems most likely). One of the last assembly is the core index 7.0 and was collected by July 25 this year.

In addition, the new OS (very likely) will be modular, to enable each of these modules will be created shop features (Windows Features).

This information is preliminary.

Why not 'Windows Infinite'? It would be a reference to the number eight due to the fact it's can be flipped on its side to become the symbol of infinity. Plus, there'll be an infinite number of devices it'll run on.... or something? I can't think of any other real reason. :p

Never heard of fedora?

Windows 8, but I also think Microsoft will start to shift more towards a standard "Windows" brand much like how they've dropped the 7 from Windows Phone marketing. I think in the years to come desktop OS's will be delivered like mobile OS'.

I don't think it could be Windows 8, remember Windows XP ? Windows Me ? I guess they could change it for marketing...

What do you mean, what do Me and XP have to do with it? They change their naming schemes all the time. Before Me they did it by years (95, 98, 2000) and before that version numbers (1.x, 2.x, 3.x,). Plus we already have Windows 7 so they would just be continuing with the current scheme, and I'm pretty sure I read they had announced the name Windows 8 as final.

Just like Windows Phone 7, the next Windows will be called: Windows Desktop 8 and Windows Air 8 (For portable devices) :D

Kidding, I guess it will be Windows 8 Box 360 With the new Aero Zune player ;)
