Kudos on the new design, but I'll admit I'm not a fan.

The homepage is far too.. cluttered/busy.. There isn't enough white space which makes it a little hard on the eyes. Adding some spacing around the article image, and between the articles themselves would probably help a lot imho.

I do find it slower to load, but I'll be the first to admit that that could be placebo effect lol.

The big thing I don't care for is the new comments area. I like the old way, where everything was very clearly separated..

Site is intermittently unavailable. The main page loads, and as soon as I click on a link get a connection reset error in Chrome. If a page does load (after several attempts), next time I go to click on another link....same issue.

Yay! - 0 downtime! :D

Oh Yay the site is so slow it's like being on a very slow 56k line! The site layout looks like something done by fisher price that is once you get it to load! I know the site designers work hard but sorry they completely dropped the ball on this one there is nothing even remotely appealing with the new layout. I have seen personal blogs with better layouts that what Neowin has now!

I was really hoping that getting off the computer for a few hours would help, but it appears not. Is there any way of reverting back to the old design? I'm still trying to figure out what exactly was wrong with the old design...especially if it necessitated this new one which feels like we've gone back in time 5 years.

EDIT: and seriously, who approved such an amateur, blog-like design???

Kudos to the new design, but I do have a few issues.

Obviously, speed.. though I know currently the site is having issues, but earlier when you launched the layout I still found it slower than the old design.. Though I admit this could be a Placebo effect..

On the homepage.. it's too crowded/busy for my tastes.. It needs more spacing, between articles, and around the side images, there just isn't enough white space..

On the articles them selves, I preferred the old design for the comments area. It separated out each comment in a more prominent way imho.

But it's a nice start, over all I like the direction the design is heading.

Seriously? I don't see what the big deal is. The new design is much more professional looking. It looks nothing like a blog. I can appreciate you might not like the new look, but you're acting like they changed it to look like some horrible old style Geocities page. Relax. Take a deep breath and well...get over it. Minus a few issues that need to be tweaked, I think this is a way better layout than the archaic one previously used. Which by the way looked like a generic CMS (which is worse than looking like a blog in my opinion).

Working on the speed issues, we're getting a ton of requests compared to a normal of around 80 requests/second/server, we're currently having to handle around 250. This will be a combination of people needing to cache the new content, and search engine spiders etc. I'm doing what I can to bring extra capacity online at the moment.

I like the minimal feel but i think the text is too cramped.

Maybe some more spacing in between each article summary?

The design kind of reminds me of the design of Winrumors.

Also I notice that the Fast Reply box clears itself when I switch tabs.

Had to retype my post when I swtich tab to look at the new design again.

Remembered that this wasn't the case before.
