I've been playing this for a while on the PC and have to say I'm starting to prefer Treyarch now...

First off, nothing but a lag fest in almost every round, hit reg seems to be pretty bad as a result. Try not to run into your teammates otherwise you'll rubberband like hell.

Field of view is way too narrow and not adjustable like in Black Ops (seriously, haven't they learned yet? why take a step back?), feels like I put a magnifying glass in front of my monitor and is all around awkward to play with.

Gameplay feels sluggish compared to previous installments. You walk really slow when aiming down the sights and aiming down the sights takes forever. It pretty much forces you to use the perks that speed these up.

There's 16 maps but it feels like I'm always playing the same 3-4 over and over.

Ugh... I mean it's still fun but you'd think they'd fix these issues given how much they've "developed" the engine over the years.

I'm putting my vote for BF3 for GOTY, at least in FPS.

To me its obvious that any talent that was part of infinity ward has obviously vacated the company. This feels like a sloppy regurgitated expansion pack to MW2. While I generally enjoyed most of the CoD games (even World at War, but really jsut the campaign), this is hands down the worst IMO. While the main story of the campaign was not completely terrible, the execution of it was atrocious. This game truly shows how little effort was put into making it. cut and paste job that surprises me it took them this long to develop. The whole basis of the the missions and the feel of them seems like its been done before, twice. From the stealth portions evading patrols and crawling under vehicles, to the sniper mission taking out a taking and then getting compromised, over to the infinite enemy spawns unless you push forward, and then on to the constant cinematics that feel forced onto you and restricting game immersion. And that is really just a synopsis. The sheer amount of random stray bullet deaths and the grenade spamming feel like they took a step back to the MW1 veteran days ( I played through this game on Regular mind you). And really all of this doesn't even match up the the just down right bad friendly AI teammates. Their lack of cover fire, inability to push forward with you, severe absence of accuracy, and constant inane ability to get in your way has brought about the worst AI in the CoD series. I thought I would never find a campaign that I wanted to end faster than I did Gears of War 3, but this game easily tops it (For a little background, I have not touched Gears of War 3 since I beat the campaign, and I finished it as fast as humanly possible. Im pretty sure I dislike gears 3 more than Dirty Larry's initial impressions). None of the missions were really noteworthy or enjoyable; however, I will state that the first half of the last mission actually was a cool addition but quickly came to an end when they decided to return back to boring land. The whole campaign feels like a bad version of Alice in Wonderland where you never get past the first chapter and you are always chasing the stupid rabbit.

I have not delved into multi-player too much, only a few games, but its looking like it wont be anything special. If you were an avid MW2 fan, you will probably like it. It is almost an exact replica. Take away the slightly updated weapon arsenal, slightly varied death streak bonuses and tweaked killstreak system, and you have MW2 (right down to the mundane accolades, emblems, and titles). The lack of integration of any of the nice things that Black Ops introduced is a definite disappointment. No zombies mode, no currency system to buy unlocks, no over abuse of the prestige system (80 levels per prestige are you seriously retarded? This is CoD not WoW, please stop making games IW), no Tomahawk, no advanced emblem/playercard system.

Despite all that I still wanted to give the multiplayer a go to just shoot some dudes and have a little fun. The game on launch day like BF3 was pretty much unplayable online. Severe overload of server capacity rendered matchmaking almost useless. It took seven tries of searching for a game before I finally made it into one without the server crashing and disconnecting everyone. And when I finally did get to play, the game had constant lag that plagued the game throughout and brought about many deaths that were never warranted. To make things worse the quality of teammates was less than stellar resulting in a loss usually due to lack of teamwork.

Hopefully the server loads and network issues will stabilize of the coming days/weeks like BF3 and make the game more enjoyable for not only myself but everyone else who is experiencing connection issues as well.

Overall Synopsis

Pros:

Some OK moments in the campaign.

Decent weapon arsenal update to the MW series

Same core CoD gameplay that a lot of people like

Generally OK wrap-up of the MW storyline

Prestige shop looks to be like a step in the right direction for making the prestige system rewarding

Cons:

Lackluster campaign combined with bad friendly AI and over insanely accurate enemy AI.

Lack of incorporation of Black Ops successes (CoD should be aiming for a unified Multiplayer feature-rich experience IMO, MW3 and Black Ops are almost night and day different feature wise)

Dated MW2 menu interface still around

Dated Game engine that is due for a re-write from the ground up (more so for the network code and geometry collision than the graphics)

Overall Score: 6 out of 10

While the game can barely stand on its own as a retail release, there is enough content to satisfy the die hard CoD fans, others may begin to start looking elsewhere as the series feels like its going into a decline and providing no real progression.

MW3 Dev Begs for Help With Low Metacritic User Score

Sledgehammer Games' Glen Schofield has taken to Twitter to ask Call of Duty fans to support Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 on Metacritic.

"I don't usually do this but, if u like MW3 go 2 Metacritic.com & help our user score," writes Schofield. "It's suspiciously low. Be honest but help if u agree."

Modern Warfare 3 is attracting a torrent of user scores of zero across all three platforms. The current user score (out of 10) is 2.7 on Xbox 360, 2.0 on PS3 and 1.5 on PC.

I'm still somewhat disappointed with the game, but not as disappointed as I was initially. I came to a realization that I needed to change my play style. At first, I played the game as I played MW2 and Black Ops. As a result, I found myself dying a lot to corner campers and twitch players (that is, players that simply react with very little skill). I now play much more cautiously and I find that it's easier to kill players that run around like headless chickens. And I no longer have to deal with silly corner campers.

One thing that I found bothersome is the game's spawn system. It punishes players, like me, that like to camp tactically. I'll stay in a hot spot for awhile because people tend to rush in to get revenge. It worked well in MW2 and exceptionally well in Black Ops. In MW3, people start to spawn behind you and sometimes even in front of you. I've seen a few too many people pop out of thin air.

Anyway, taking a small break from standard MP has helped. I'm currently playing spec ops survival with a friend of mine and it's definitely more fun than I expected.

I want to stress this: I won't buy another game if it's on this same engine. I think the developers should know this is an "issue" that needs to be addressed.

I agree that it's an issue that needs to be resolved; however, it's highly unlikely that they'll use a completely new engine with the next Call of Duty game. The developers have stressed that they want a fast-paced game with 60 FPS. A newer engine will likely run at less than 60 FPS on current-gen hardware.

What irony? :/ When I said "camp tactically", I meant "camp for a reason". For example, I'll hide behind cover and stay in one area if enemies come at me in small groups. Once they stop, I'll move to another area. I won't camp in a corner hoping that people would run by without seeing me.
