ViperAFK
Unless you mean on their download page, then no they don't - but chill... no need for swearing about a browser ! EDIT - actually Of course its in the about box, thats just proper behavior for any application. On their site there is no mention of the version number anywhere where your average user would see it. You had to go out of your way and search for a reference... Sorry, but I am just sick of all the ridiculous "controversy" on these forums about freakin' browser version numbers :/ Gets really annoying, when every topic about firefox/chrome half the comments are "hurr durr version number conspiracy" Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/1018398-mozilla-firefox-60-final/page/2/#findComment-594231970 Share on other sites

Anthonyd
And, they're doing time-based releases, hence the version increment each time (because 4.1, 4.2, 4.3 forever would be silly). Just ignore the bloody version number. I would ignore it if it wasn't breaking extensions who aren't (officially) supported for firefox > 5. Phouchg
Following the suggestions of some here at Neowin, I'm now keeping on the bleeding-edge and running Nightly 8.0 for everyday use. Are we bleeding yet? Hell no. Addon compatibility check has been disarmed, there are no bugs or crashes. In fact, I still have to see a frickin' difference from Firefox 4. But I like the time-based updates every evening, I do. Worthington
Feels snappier than Firefox 5 but still not as good as Nightly. Anybody who wants to switch to Firefox should waiit for 8. The memory issues have finally come under control with 8. PyX
Firefox will never catch up with Safari on the Mac version, right? All those custom interface elements and APIs? I merely said they are probably trying to catch up to other browsers version numbers, nothing about conspiracy, in fact did not even expect a reply - you came in with the "hurr durr's" and turned it into something it was not. And no I did not have to go out of my way, in-fact I only clicked "Help" and wow there it was. Not exactly hard to find. But as you posted that they do not advertise their version number "Anywhere" - you are absolutely and undeniably wrong. Jen Smith
i have that plugin, but it doesnt seem to work with 6.i enable it, and then all the incompatible plugins say they'll work after firefox restarts, but then they are all still disabled, process over and over again. no luck. Try making a new profile perhaps to see if that clears it up? Been using the compatibility addon since v4 first came about (now v8) and haven't had compatibility issues since, running quite a few addons and some of them aren't even technically compatible with v4. Think the only one I had to go with a dev build from their forums was TabMixPlus. temple_treefrog
Can anyone confirm if Firefox 6 (or if the nightly builds) improve OS X Lion compatibility (e.g. back and forward gestures, etc)? SharpGreen
Can anyone confirm if Firefox 6 (or if the nightly builds) improve OS X Lion compatibility (e.g. back and forward gestures, etc)? Yesterday's Aurora build added initial support for Lion stuff. I think it was just the scrolling parts though. So no nothing in v6. .Neo
Can anyone confirm if Firefox 6 (or if the nightly builds) improve OS X Lion compatibility (e.g. back and forward gestures, etc)? Knowing how cleverly Mozilla set things up they'll probably have to redesign half the theme to make it remotely fit in on OS X Lion. LittleNeutrino Veteran Posted August 13, 2011 Veteran Share Posted August 13, 2011 the only issue i have with the new release schedule they are doing is it already takes some of the addon developers weeks after a release to do updates and now some of them havent updated in 2 versions of Firefox :( Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/1018398-mozilla-firefox-60-final/page/2/#findComment-594232152 Share on other sites

Opera is starting to look lovely. But i just dont need all the extra it comes with. Works fine for me in 8. I had also used it with 6 and 7 and it worked fine :/ You can always try using about:config: extensions.checkCompatibility.6.0 set to false. and I think setting extensions.checkCompatibility.nightly to false should disable checking regardless of what version you are using.
