Nine people were shot and three killed Tuesday morning by a gunman who opened fire with an automatic weapon at a Carson City IHOP, Carson City Sheriff Ken Furlong said at an news conference shortly after 11 a.m.

The suspected gunman was found by authorities in the IHOP parking lot, having ?already self-inflicted a wound,? Furlong said. The suspect is still breathing ?but not anticipated to survive,? Furlong said.

Two of the three fatalities died at the scene. The third died during surgery.

?There does not appear to be any safety concerns outside of this area,? Furlong said. ?... It appears to be isolated to this parking lot.?

11 agencies responded to the incident.

?We?re not releasing any details on the shooter,? Furlong said, and noted that the suspect was only believed to be the shooter, not confirmed as such.

He said it was too early to tell if the shooter knew anyone at IHOP.

He said he did not know the age range of the victims, injured or dead. National Highway Patrol Trooper Chuck Allen said two of the deceased were National Guardsmen who were wearing their uniforms.

Windows of a barbecue restaurant and an H&R Block were also hit by the gunfire.

The Associated Press is reporting that the Carson City Sheriff's Office has confirmed that the shooter in the Carson City IHOP incident has died of his self-inflicted gunshot wound.

The assault rifle used in the deadly shooting at a Nevada IHOP restaurant came from a Chinese company whose weapons imports have been banned since 1994, authorities say, but it?s unclear how the gunman acquired the AK-47 rifle.

Law enforcement officials say the man who fired the shots Tuesday in Carson City, Eduardo Sencion, had three weapons: two AK-47-style rifles and a handgun.

The officials say the actual shooting was committed with a Norinco Arms AK-47. Norinco, the Chinese company, is a global supplier of firearms and military weapons.
