FMH
W8 as in "wait", and I agree, definitely not something you typically want to associate with a product. It occured to me that Mac is also associated with something that makes you fat. (Hint: it's Big too.. ) So Microsoft could do a very strong branding/marketing and change the unwanted assocaiton people may have with W8. So this time using Segoe UI: :) W8

So this time using Segoe UI: :) W8 It doesn't matter what font you use, it doesn't make the idea any better. What are you going to do, hang out at all the Best Buys and Staples pitching your idea to customers? Most people see a name they recognize and pick it up. But W8 may make them do just that. FMH
what about something just like windows phone 7? Nice. Micorosft is msking an extreme push on interface consistency across all the products, so this may be it, very much so. And put some bright colors in the logo's square, and it may look even better. I think they are using red with WP.

+Majesticmerc MVC Posted September 9, 2011 MVC Share Posted September 9, 2011 Sometimes I wonder if Microsoft have ever heard of this thing called "convention", since they seem not to like using them. Windows 8 is fine, it's just a name for an operating system, not a sports car.

Gamerhomie
Seeing how they probably want to unify all their platforms together (pc, phone, 360, etc...) Windows 8 being able to turn into an "?" might make sense.
FMH
1773, who ever that maybe, was the first person(as far as I know) who gave this suggestion. And a flood of complementary replies were given to him. He was the first commenter of that article. Hats off to him, for great brainstorming! Athernar
Given the choices they've made with the UI asthetics, Windows 3.2 seems a fitting name. :shifty:
gkl
Windows 8 or Eight gets my vote. It's simple, looks good and users can easily write it. "What are you running?" "Windows 8" Infinity sounds a bit meh plus you can't write the infinity sign easily (I have no idea what are its numbers...).
