Move them apart as you see from the text on Elite (white layers), merge the layers, ctrl+click on the text layer, but keep the "shiny" layer selected. Use layer via cut, and voila. For the first E, I just move the "shiny" layer a bit to the right and cut it using the same method as the one mentioned above.
