LightShadow
[sNIPPED] Hmm, your weather live tile works? Mine and a few others doesn't, it's just the plain old tile, even though it's turned on, and tried reinstalling the app. Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/1025948-flaunt-your-windows-8-screenshots-here/page/10/#findComment-594905229 Share on other sites
KevinN206
like I said, its marked as legacy and obsolete, although they need to keep the Win+R key but still take it to something that lets you type in command line esc commands like run did... but with the start menu removed now, how do you do that without going into command prompt You can pin "Run" to the Start Screen or the Taskbar. You couldn't pin Run in Windows 7 to the taskbar. Dot Matrix
How do you make those categories on the start screen? 1) In the bottom right corner of the Start Screen, you'll see a little icon that looks like a negative sign. 2) Click on that to zoom out the tiles. 3) Right click on the group of tiles you wish to name. 4) At the bottom, you'll see an icon to name that group. 5) Click on the icon, and after you're done, press "Name". 6) Single click anywhere on the screen to bring the tiles back into focus. You're done! Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/1025948-flaunt-your-windows-8-screenshots-here/page/10/#findComment-594912529 Share on other sites

George P Global Moderator Posted June 6, 2012 Global Moderator Share Posted June 6, 2012 What's the limit for columns in a group? Is it 4 or is it something you can control? I never did try and mess with that for it. George P Global Moderator Posted June 23, 2012 Global Moderator Share Posted June 23, 2012 Someone brought this up already but the new desktop app tiles we saw on the surface are nice, can't wait to see what other little things like that they've yet to show us. rfirth 1 Share Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/1025948-flaunt-your-windows-8-screenshots-here/page/10/#findComment-594952761 Share on other sites

goofyinthehead
I don't know. What's strikes me as funny is that 99.9% of the these pictures all look the same. There isn't enough customization to even post a picture. Same tiles, same backgrounds...but in any event, I think I may take the plunge and install it as my main os.....kinda nervous tho Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/1025948-flaunt-your-windows-8-screenshots-here/page/10/#findComment-594952811 Share on other sites

George P Global Moderator Posted June 23, 2012 Global Moderator Share Posted June 23, 2012 I agree, I don't really get the point of showing the start screen.. Showing the desktop isn't much different unless we're comparing our wallpapers and how fancy we can align icons. Few people bother to go all out and install some 3rd party desktop app like windowblinds and start changing everything. theyarecomingforyou
The desktop view looks virtually the same as Windows 7, so I thought I'd post my start screen: As you can see, it's nothing particularly exciting. It's clean and functional. I'm still not a great fan of the tiles for non-Metro apps, though based on the article posted on the front page a while back it looks like they'll be overhauled before release - larger icons and smaller text will be much appreciated. Overall I like the new start screen, as I find it quicker to find and launch apps (you can fit a lot more apps in than the Vista/7 start menu).
