jakem1 Posted September 27, 2011 Share Posted September 27, 2011 Here are a few more issues I've run across: Smilies don't appear to be working this morning and I can see broken image placeholders in their place. The Ignore all signatures option (accessed by clicking on the cross that appears when you hover over a signature) isn't working. Four squares flash when you select the option but the signatures are still visible. The editor doesn't resize in IE8 when you click and drag at the bottom right hand corner of editor box. This new IPB is really laggy when scrolling pages, even when I play a 1080p video on youtube and scroll down the page it's less laggy than Neowin when scrolling. But it isn't even using any of my CPU. Just poor code on IPB's part? EDIT:// I've determined that it only laggs when using the touchpad on my Notebook if I grab the scroll bar on the right of the window it's smooth. But this is the only website this happens to.. is IPB trying to centre scrolling on posts when sliding up and down the page or something? Seems like every version they take more stuff away. Now you can't turn off Avatars, last version you couldn't find your own previous posts. Maybe I should start visiting a forum with vBullitin or something because IPB is quickly becoming unusable. As Vice said, dragging the browser's scrollbar is smooth but using the wheel on my mouse is slow. It's only a problem here at Neowin. Try scrolling on a laptop trackpad/touchpad or a mouse scroll wheel. Lags. Try using the bar on the right of the page, smooth. I'll be looking into community add-ons for the ability to remove avatars, but as you can understand we want to iron out other issues first. I think the only thing that needs real work is the whitespace. There are elements that seem squished together where they should not be and other elements with huge expanses for no good reason. Needs tweaks as already stated. The ads on the main index are placed horribly imo. They should be horizontal ads, not square ads at the side of the listings. The index page looks like a horrible squished mess as it stands. Damn whiners. I've only noted a single real whiner so far. LOL Well, I honestly think it's an overall improvement but the more I use it, the more tweaking it seems to need. I like the direction it's going in but it's probably less complete at this point than the new recent front page redesign when it was first launched.
