2 - I like to go back and view stuff I've posted, and check of there were replies etc etc. When I click "My Content" it gives me a stupid order of stuff, and not what I want, in the old board, I'd click a drop down, and it would have an option to ... something else (I can't remember the name) that would put it in descending order of MY LAST posts... in this version, I can't do that... so I can't reply back to someone who's said something to me.

View New Content -> Topics I participated in.

That should do what you want.

Is the "Go to Last Post" button coming back, or did I miss it?

RE: Avatars, it'll be interesting to know those who have lost them what format you uploaded in? Mine has massively degraded in quality since the change, almost like it has been made bigger from the smaller one that is displayed on the forum index or even the one on the left of the quick reply box.

The only other issue I see are some emoticons not showing (http://www.neowin.ne...fault/laugh.png).

And I'm not a fan of the "view my content" as each topic now seems to be three times as big (tall) as the simple one line of text that it was before. Although maybe that is this PC resolution.

Incorrect nr of posts in profiles is being looked into.

In case you're still looking;

Here's the code they used (it's in view.php of the profile module in members):

$posts = $this->DB->buildAndFetch( array(
'select' => "COUNT(*) as total_posts",
'from' => "posts",
'where' => "author_id=" . $member['member_id'],
) );

$member['posts'] = $posts['total_posts'];[/CODE]

This is why the post count on profiles is different. It doesn't use the same counter, it simply recounts the amount of posts in the Database. It's done like that to show the actual amount of "active posts".

If the count on the profile is smaller though, that'd mean it's either bugged, or older posts are archived somewhere else.

Commenting out the code above should be safe, and it will result in post counts being the same on profiles as on posts.

For the most part I like the new look, but a couple of things do bother me:

1. Text in quote boxes can be a tad hard to read due to the light gray background. Either the text itself needs a little more weight to it to make it a bit easier to read, or the box with the quoted text itself have a white background (with the rest of the quote box having the current light gray background). I think the latter would look better, personally. Sorta like how the old quote boxes were colored except for the section of the quoted text itself.

2. Themes need to make a return. Even better, allow (if possible) some of the customization like the main page has, such as changing the background image.color. Frankly, all the light colors that are being used right now make the forum look "washed out" as a whole, in my opinion. I seem to get eye fatigue quicker with the new design than I did with the old one, and surely I'm not alone on this. The forum as a whole, at least for some of us, needs more contrasting colors.

Just a couple of things I thought I'd bring up. I love the changes for the most part, especially how easy and quick it is to subscribe to threads now. :D Good work!

Is there a way to view our old posts so that we can go back to threads we posted in and read replies? The Posts button in our profiles does nothing and the Find Content button doesn't finish loading.

It took me a bit of fiddling (since none of the admins/devs responded to my post on page 20...) but when you click "My Content" there is an option "Posts Only" or similar (last option on the left.) It'll show YOUR LAST POSTS from the last one you made.

Firefox + adblock plus.

This is not something I would recommend you do on Neowin as Subscriptions and Ads are the only way Neowin is still around. Whitelist Neowin or become a Subscriber.

:D

I cannot wait for the legacy theme to come on the forums.

The current one is awful IMO, especially as opposed to the nice one the designers made before with IPB 3.1. Now everything’s square-shaped, there’s so much whitespace everywhere and a flagrant lack of originality (no pictures, bland theme…).

I tried the mobile forums this morning and it wasn’t working fine, I’ll wait until it works before criticizing it.

They’re fixing bugs. The current design that we see both of us is not really buggy IMO, so I doubt they will fix anything I don’t like. The only way is to add a Legacy Design and adding this does not fix a bug, it simply adds a feature.

Funny thing is, your suggestions aren’t so bad. I was already thinking about not going to Neowin anymore, but it doesn’t really have to do with the design, it would be more of an excuse than anything, but still. Main reason is, it takes too much of my time because I’m too dependent from it (being dependent from the Internet and from the technology really sucks, especially when you have a bunch of things to accomplish in life). Secondary reason is, I’m getting tired of rumors that are completely incoherent with the rest of the web sometimes, and finally some people here really need to grow up (now let me be clear about it, I’m not talking about you :D). Comments like "OMFG teh iphone 5 will fail so much, it’ll be a real piece of shizt like the current one lolololol XD haha" are like bringing back nightmares from the 90s.
