The Cubs are my team. By far. Ive been following them for the past few seasons closely, and its great that they are now in the playoffs. I hate to say it Oligarthy, but your pitching isnt very good. Ortiz has a ton of wins, but its only because your offense is insane. With that said, your high ERA is going to be our strong point because our pitching will be able to contain your offense enough to the point where we can get enough runs to win. At least thats my opinion. Good luck to you guys tho.

I want a Red Sox v. Cubs World Series more than anything..

yeah i realize our starting pitching isnt quite what it used to be, but its still nothing to scoff at.. our bullpen on the other hand.. :s not so great.. maybe the offense will be able to carry them to a title, but i would put too much money on it based on the last 11 postseason runs..

and if the cubs knock us out in the first round, thats not all bad, i like the cubs too.. cubs/redsox would be an incredible series.. pretty much as long as the yankees dont win ill be happy

Well, now that my Phils are out with the last game being played today against the dreaded Braves, I am going to root for the Cubbies (glutton for punishment) :p

Catnip's powers of prognostication are eerie though

My Pics and Hopes

Minnesota Twins vs. New York Yankees ------- Yanks

Boston Red Sox vs. Oakland Athletics ------- Bo Sox ------- Bo Sox

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Bo Sox in 6

Chicago Cubs vs. Atlanta Braves ------- Braves ------- Braves

Florida Marlins vs. San Francisco Giants -------- Marlins

the cubs will never win a world series ever

I kinda want to root for the Cubs since they made it, and my Sox didn't. I really like the Cubs pitching, but I don't think they have enough offense to beat Atlanta's great pitching staff too. I'm not going to be fair weather and go with the Yanks like most would (:p) so I'll take the Twins.

"the sox will never make it to the series, they are terrible. You need more than one pitcher in the playoffs."

Erm.ya ok..try 2 pitchers first off....Lowe and Pedro(as well an argument could be made for Wakefield).

Secondly the Twins are a team made specifically to beat the Yankees.Defense and hot pitching go to the series.

Hottest team since the break has been the Twins , thanks mostly to an above average bullpen.

As for the NL the Cubs are everyones dark horse and they're scary cause they're 3 pitchers deep ,and their hitters are seein' the ball as well as anyone right now.

Sentimentality dictates a Cubs/Red Sox series.

Logic screams yanks /Giants series because and ONLY because they've been there before.

But we all know that nothing ever goes as scripted(witness last years heavenly Angels),so imma sit back and see who the diamond gods bestow their favor upon this 2003,should be fun!

yeah well its not hard to predict atlanta making the playoffs.. my predictions always look good until the playoffs start, then we lose to some inferior team and its time for me to start pulling for the falcons.. but really this first round is a win/win situation for me.. the cubs are my 2nd favorite NL team, i mean how can anyone not love them?

Dereck Lowe couldn't be the #2 man on any team in baseball
I could name at least 10 teams that Derek Lowe could be the top starter on.. hes a good pitcher and could very well lead boston to a world series Edited by CatnipOligarthy
Then how come he isn't even going to start game 2 for the sox.

Greg Maddux, Roger Clemens, and Mark Prior are all starting game 3 for their teams as well.. are you gonna try and tell me they arent good pitchers either?

in a 5 game series, game 3 is crucial, and more and more teams are catching on.
